In many Pakistani businesses, stock lives in two places: on the shelves and in a register or spreadsheet that someone updates at the end of the day. The gap between the two grows quietly. A delivery is put away before its bill is entered, a credit sale is written in the khata but not taken off the stock list, a return goes back on the shelf without a record. By the time anyone counts, nobody can say where the difference came from.

Can I correct stock after a shelf count?
